Native to our neighbor to the south, Mexican vanilla is a threatened species, with many growers abandoning the industry to find a more profitable use for the land on which vanilla once grew.  We choose Mexican vanilla because it takes less fossil fuel to get to our door, it supports our vulnerable southern neighbor's heritage.....and, we just like the scent better.  We infuse whole beans in tallow for many weeks before straining, then mix in locally sourced beeswax.  The result is a wonderful, warm scented lotion that your skin will love.

Please note that real Mexican vanilla beans each contain hundreds of nearly microscopic seeds.  They often escape through our filters and sink to the bottom of the molds we pour our lotion in, which of course is the top of your bar.  If you see tiny black specks, they're just vanilla seeds---just more evidence that you're getting the real thing
